Forge Index Workshop

Know what’s in the drawer. And which drawer.

Inventory, locations, labels, and documentation for the physical side of making. Forge Index Workshop connects the object in your hand to the information you will need when it is time to use it.

The reason it exists

A workshop is more than a list of things.

A part number does not tell you which cabinet holds the part. A photo does not preserve the manual. A spreadsheet row does not necessarily keep a drawer organized. Workshop brings those pieces together around items and their real locations.

The workflow is designed to follow the person doing the cataloging. Scan a drawer, stay focused on that location, add several items, and attach photos or documents while the object is still in front of you.

Inside the project

Where the work shows.

Intake where the work happens

Phone-friendly rapid intake keeps the current location in context. Photos, product codes, category settings, and condition information reduce repeated setup while cataloging a drawer.

Locations have structure

Cabinets, drawers, bins, and cells can be built in batches. Location actions support moving contents, counting items, label queues, and printable reference sheets.

Keep the evidence with the item

Attach protected photos, receipts, manuals, and other documents. Spec-label OCR offers a review-and-apply workflow; optional AI cleanup is a separate, deliberate action.

Publish only what is for sale

The shop workflow separates private inventory from public listings. A chosen title, summary, price, and photo can go public without exposing internal locations, notes, receipts, or manuals.

From intention to action

The workflow.

  1. Locate

Scan the cabinet, drawer, or bin.

  2. Capture

Add the item and its evidence.

  3. Label

Connect the object to its record.

  4. Find

Return to the information when needed.

Engineering notes

Practical infrastructure for a practical space

The application uses PHP and MySQL/MariaDB in a cPanel-friendly setup. Authenticated document access, item identifiers, backup exports, and owner tools support the daily operation of a private workshop system.
